Use this when you're buying test equipment for a fiber team, or when you're the person who was suddenly told to 'get that MPO thing' for a data center job. I manage purchasing for a 55-person field services company. Most of my day is POs, invoices, and vendor follow-ups. An EXFO MPO tester is built for 12-fiber or 24-fiber MPO/MTP assemblies. Confirm pin type (male or female), polarity, and alignment before getting a quote. Step 4: Understand calibration before the device arrives
This is the step most people treat as a formality. A new OTDR or MPO tester isn't accurate forever. It's accurate only if it's been checked against a reference standard. For lab-grade traceability, ask for a calibration certificate that references ISO/IEC 17025. If the vendor can't explain the scope, that's a red flag.
Calibration isn't a repair.
