About EXFO

Since 2005, we have been helping telecom professionals test smarter with instruments designed for real-world field conditions.

EXFO headquarters

Our Story

EXFO was founded by a team of fiber optic engineers who believed that test instruments should be as intuitive as the technology they measure. After years of using overly complex, bulky testers in the field, our founders set out to build instruments that telecom technicians could master in minutes, not days.

Headquartered in Quebec City, Canada, EXFO has grown from a five-person startup to a team of 480+ employees serving customers in over 45 countries. Our R&D center holds 85 patents covering OTDR measurement algorithms, automated fiber characterization, and network service assurance analytics.

What has not changed is our founding commitment: every instrument we ship must be field-ready, accurate, and backed by engineers who answer the phone when you need help.

What Drives Us

Simplicity

Simplicity First

Complex technology should not require a complex interface. We design every screen, button, and workflow to reduce the learning curve and speed up your testing.

Precision

Precision Always

Every EXFO instrument is individually calibrated and tested to exceed published specifications. We do not ship instruments that merely meet spec; we ship instruments that beat it.

Support

Support That Cares

Our application engineers are former field technicians who understand your daily challenges. When you call, you talk to someone who has been in your shoes.
