- You only test short fiber runs (1–10 km) in a controlled environment (e.g., a data center). The dynamic range differences won’t matter.
- You have a large internal engineering team that can reverse-engineer the software reports.
- Your IT department hates cloud solutions and you prefer to manage everything on-prem. You’ll save on license fees.
- You can handle a 4-day response time on support without it affecting project deadlines.
From my perspective, the choice is clear for most teams: the total cost of ownership, the technical performance, and the software ecosystem make the EXFO path a safer bet.
